2YoungLives Team Conducts Monitoring Visit, Empowering Teenage Mothers to Rewrite Their Futures
During November, as part of the LNP’s continuing efforts to empower teenage mothers and provide them with a second chance to unlock their potential, the 2YoungLives team embarked on a round-trip visit to 12 mentoring teams, aiming to monitor progress, to motivate the mentors and to support mentees.
During the visit, the team took the opportunity to celebrate the successes of teenage mothers who have returned to school, while also offering encouragement to those who have faced challenges, including the loss of their babies.
Mangenda Kamara, the 2YoungLives team lead, engaged with stakeholders from various the communities, sharing observations and insights on the impact of the program, and she also presented findings from a recently-published research study, highlighting the project’s achievements and areas for growth.
Th e team visited schools, including technical and vocational institutions, to assess the coping mechanisms of teenage mothers, juggling motherhood and academia, the results of which are very encouraging, with many mentees demonstrating remarkable resilience and determination to change their stories.
In this respect, the team had this to say…
“We are pleased with the massive effect the mentees are making to change their stories and unlock their potentials, and our goal is to continue supporting these young women, providing them with the necessary tools and resources to succeed and become role models in their communities.”
This all amounts to undeniable evidence that the 2YoungLives program is making a significant and tangible difference in the lives of teenage mothers in many areas across our nation, offering a beacon of hope for a brighter future, and what you see in the photos here corroborates that evidence…
