2YoungLives Concludes Successful Round Trip & Celebrates Milestones!

Visiting lactating mentees in school at Kabala

The 2YoungLives team wrapped up a successful trip, connecting with mentees, mentors, healthcare professionals and community stakeholders across all our current sites.
The aim was to motivate everyone to keep pushing, checking in on lactating pupils in schools and vocational centres, and sharing key findings on the area of Adolescent Pregnancy research, in Sierra Leone, completed by 2YoungLives, with the support and input of the various communities involved.

Mangenda Kamara, leader of 2YoungLives in Sierra Leone, celebrated her PhD Graduation at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, at a party attended by 200+ guests celebrating her academic and 2YoungLives journey – guests including Lucy November who flew in for the occasion.
Awarded at Earnest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology, Mangenda became the first female lecturer to complete a PhD at Port Loko campus.

Past mentees reunited

Other activities included a Mentee Reunion, December 9th with groups 1 & 2 being reunited with the 2YoungLives staff and Lucy November.
Updates by mentees were shared with colleagues and also the team from Port Loko met with the groups in Freetown for the first time, spending the day bonding, and making new friends.
The discussions highlighted the progress made by the impact of the 2YoungLives initiative, and identified suggested areas for improvement, and everyone involved expressed the wish for another meeting bringing them together, which in term lead to the launch of a WhatsApp group, and future plans kicking off.

A big shout-out goes to all the health care service providers and professionals, 2YoungLives crew and everyone else who pulled together and made it happen!
