2YoungLives Holds Community Conferences in Sierra Leone

2YoungLives, a project LNP focused on in supporting young people, has launched a series of mini-conferences in communities across Sierra Leone, and the first conference took place in Tombo, together with participants from the Calaba Town, Portee and Kuntorloh community hubs.
The event focused on refresher training for mentors on supporting pregnant teens, childcare and safety tips, and the participants also discussed the organisation’s values, including…

A workshop for teachers emphasised government policies on safeguarding children, including the Child Rights Act and Radical Inclusion policy, encouraging schools to be safe spaces for pregnant and lactating pupils.
Community stakeholders engaged in their support for 2YoungLives and raised awareness on the laws prohibiting child marriage which affects 30% of women in Sierra Leone and contributes to adolescent pregnancies.
The conference ended with a friendly football match between the 2YoungLives mentors and the Tombo community women, and here are some photos from the event…
