PAPAYA & PAPAGAIO PROJECTS: Maternal Health

One of the gatherings at the Lifeline compound in Kuntorloh

Through these interventions Lifeline and its partners, including the Welbodi Partnership, continue to raise awareness in communities around the country about pre-eclampsia, high blood pressure, Placental Growth Factor (PLGF) testing and the importance of attending Antenatal Care (ANC).

This has been transformative, working to re-educate women, some of whom strongly adhere to traditional beliefs often leading to delays in attending ANC facilities until the 7th or 8th month of pregnancy, thus increasing the risk of complications, of the importance addressing the associated issues at the earliest stage.
Together with our partners, Lifeline continues to engage community stakeholders and health workers to encourage early and consistent ANC attendance.
Currently we have registered more than 400 pregnant women, some of whom have delivered safely, across both projects and continue to provide them with any necessary support and follow-up care.
