Working together in partnership with the Welbodi Partnership, the Sierra Leone Government and King’s College London, LNP continues to intentionally engage with communities, in various parts of the country, in the sensitisation of and screening for the conditions of pre-eclampsia, anaemia and eclampsia.
On May 22nd these activities culminated with the commemoration of World Preeclampsia 2026 and, during the event, LNP and its partners screened and educated communities through various platforms, including radio talk shows, community engagement meetings, one-on-one sensitisation sessions and small group discussions.
Although LNP were not involved in the Kono district, the interventions were carried out across the Western Urban and Western Rural and Kono districts, with over 500 people attending, including many pregnant women who were screened for high blood pressure using CRADLE VSA machines.

In addition, members of the Lifeline team engaged with community stakeholders, pregnant women and girls in the community settings, mapping activities under the CRADLE-B project.
By way of clarification, the CRADLE VSA (Vital Signs Alert) is a semi-automated, robust, low-cost blood pressure and vital signs monitor, specifically developed to meet World Health Organization standards, designed to detect high-risk conditions in pregnant women, even in low-resource settings.
