UPDATE ON THE LAND GRAB ISSUE, REPRISALS & COURT MATTERS

As you may remember, since September 5th last year, Lifeline Nehemiah Projects has faced attacks from Sierra Leone  Police personnel in relation to the land grab issue, involving reprisals, police brutality and human rights abuses, affecting LNP staff, the Director’s family, our beneficiaries and members of the wider Kuntorloh community.
Despite these challenges, LNP remains resilient and committed to contributing to Sierra Leone’s development and complementing the Sierra Leone Government’s national development agenda.
LNP continues to maintain that the disputed land was legally acquired from the Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Lands and Country Planning, and that the Lifeline field was reserved for the use of children, young people, women of Kuntorloh, and the wider community LNP is serving, and this land matter, filed by LNP in the High Court, currently remains before the court.
In addition, the cases before the Magistrate Court, involving the indiscriminate arrest and detention of Prince Tommy Williams, on December 15th last year, and of Mohamed Turay, on February 14th this year, remain unsettled, despite more than eleven court appearances to date, each of which have failed to provide any supporting evidence to justify the reasons behind their detentions, due to the concocted nature of the charges levied against them.
Without question, the LNP leadership maintains its declaration concerning the entire process to date, describing the action of the police officers and the government officials involved as injustices, demonstrating the abuse of power and a lack of respect for the rule of law, and continuing to stringently condemn their actions.
Despite these ongoing circumstances, the LNP leadership, together with their supporters and followers, continues to maintain a law-abiding and peaceful stance, committed to staying focused on its mission as nation builders.
