Together with its partners, including Welbodi Partnership, Lifeline Network International, and King’s College London, LNP continues to work closely with community stakeholders and healthcare workers to support pregnant women and adolescent girls.
This work continues alongside national efforts complementing the maternal health initiatives set up by the Government of Sierra Leone, including the 300 Days Of Activism.
To date, LNP and its partners have:
- engaged more than 800 pregnant women and adolescent girls
- reached more than 2,000 community stakeholders through community engagement activities, radio discussions, 1-2-1 sessions and other community-based approaches
- worked across many different community locations across the nation
- provided education and awareness on:
- pre-eclampsia and eclampsia
- high blood pressure during pregnancy
- implemented regular community-based blood donation sessions
- early antenatal care attendance
- respectful and sensitive maternal and new-born care
- eradicating myths and misconceptions surrounding pregnancy and childbirth
- combatting causes of delays in seeking and accessing appropriate maternal healthcare.
Through these interventions LNP continues to strengthen community knowledge, promote early care-seeking, encourage collaboration between communities and health facilities and contribute to efforts to improve maternal and new-born outcomes.
